Annett’s Mono Village Campground

Bridgeport, California is home to a camping and fishing destination, Twin Lakes. Annett’s Mono Village sits just on the edge of Yosemite National Park, making it a sought after basecamp for backpackers, horseback riders, adventurists, as well as your average camper. I have spent many nights in a number of different campsites within Annett’s Mono Village Campground. The campground + cabin rental resort can be found nestled within the pines of Mono Village, Twin Lakes. The beach of the upper-lake is just a stone’s throw from the Twin Lakes campground. I must say, the scenery is gorgeous and the crystal blue water is just about as pure as it comes.

There are many sites to choose from at Annett’s Mono Village, all of which were on a first-come, first-serve basis each time we visited. This means do not attempt to find the perfect campsite on the 4th of July…it gets pretty full. The few times we went to Mono Village campground over this past summer, we haven’t had any issues securing a campsite close to the restrooms (the ones equipped with showers, that is). Although, I’d recommend arriving on a week-day (Monday-Thursday) rather than a weekend as the crowd tends to roll in on those days. Mono Village, Twin Lakes has a good assortment of hiking trails to choose from. Whether you would like to see a waterfall, views of the lakes, or simply go for a morning stroll, Twin Lakes has you covered. (Bonus: DM us an image of you at the “Bear Bench” and you can be featured on our website!) Annett’s Mono Village offers restrooms with quarter operated showers. We’ve come to realize that the time limit of hot water per quarter varies per shower. This means some showers give you two minutes while some give you five minutes of uninterrupted hot water. It is quite the game. The staff keeps the showers nice and clean as well, however do not forget to bring your sandals or invest in some sort of shower mat. You’re welcome!

Wildlife

We made a mistake! The image here (although not the greatest quality) shows a small black bear climbing into the back of our car… We did lose a good amount of our cold items from the cooler but managed to save the dry food bin sitting in the backseat. We knew there were bears who come down the hill after dark, however I did not expect this little guy to be first in line for a snack. So let this be your warning… Do not leave your coolers or garbage bags out past dark because the bears come out like clockwork! We named this little guy Harold.

 A Fishermen’s Paradise?

Annett’s Mono Village comes equipped with a boat house, boat rentals, and very knowledgeable fishermen who are ready to help. I’ve seen some monster fish get pulled out of the upper-lake at Twin Lakes, so I would definitely recommend Annett’s for a fishing getaway.

Shoutout to my boy Harold!! The grind doesn’t stop just because the sun goes down! He must’ve been bear-y hungry!

  2. Most helpful campground review I’ve seen yet – 10/10 Going to check it out. Will be wary of Harold!
